Excitement As Prof. Ize-Iyamu Lights Up UBTH Staff Quarters With Solar Powered Street Light

The Chief Medical Director of the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, has installed over 100 solar-powered streetlights to illuminate the hospital staff quarters and surrounding areas in Benin City.

At the unveiling ceremony, recently, Prof. Ize-Iyamu, who was represented by Dr. Philip Osho, Deputy Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (Clinicals), emphasized that the initiative is timely and aims to reduce insecurity in the quarters.

The CMD noted that prior to the intervention, the lack of proper lighting left staff feeling unsafe due to the pervasive darkness.

Prof. Ize-Iyamu highlighted that the new lighting system would effectively tackle the security challenges previously faced by staff residents.

Also speaking, Dr. Taiwo Oyewumi, Chairman of the Occupants of UBTH Quarters Association, expressed his profound gratitude to the Chief Medical Director for the unprecedented installation of Solar Powered Street lights, marking a significant milestone in the hospital’s history.

An elated, Mr. Pedro Abure, Manager of the Corporate Services and Partnership Unit at UBTH, praised Prof. Ize-Iyamu for her impactful intervention, noting that the staff quarters community is witnessing remarkable improvements due to her visionary leadership.
