Retirement: UBTH Honours Prof. Kingsley Akhigbe

The University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), has honoured the retiring Chairman of the Senior Staff Disciplinary Committee and a valued member of the mental health department, Prof. Kingsley Oalei Akhigbe.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu praised Prof. Akhigbe for his outstanding leadership and exemplary qualities throughout his years in the hospital.

She stated that the hospital would significantly miss his extensive wealth of experience and invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the UBTH.

During a brief ceremony attended by UBTH management staff, the CMD who wished him success in his future endeavors, highlighted Prof. Akhigbe’s vast knowledge, and dedicated service.

The retirement celebration also coincided with his 70th birthday, during which the CMD presented him with a plaque to commemorate both milestones as he transitioned from his role at the hospital.

In his remarks, Prof. Kingsley Akhigbe, a professor of psychiatry, expressed gratitude to the management of UBTH for their support and the opportunity to serve as a staff member for the past 40 years.

Some key management staff, including Dr. Emmanuel Osaigbovo, Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee; Mr. Jim Uwadiae Esq., Director of Administration; Dr. Philip Osho, DCMAC Clinicals; Prof. Adebola Ehizele, DCMAC Research and Ethics; Prof. Anthony Atimati, DCMAC Training and Monitoring; and DNS Bertha Ujiagbedion, Head of Nursing Services.
