The Reliance Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Edo State Council, has sworn in new executive members to pilot the affairs of the chapel for the three years.

Swearing in of the new executive members became necessary after the expiration of the former Exco of the chapel.

Admonishing members of The Reliance Chapel, the founder of the chapel, and Publisher of The Reliance Newspaper respectively, Comrade Deacon Ralph Okhiria, said members of The Reliance Chapel should continue to embrace peace and tow the line of progress so as to move the chapel to greater heights.

Okhiria said that no meaningful development can be achieved in the face of rancour and as such, members of The Reliance Chapel must promote peace, uphold existing tranquility, and to be welfare driven

But swearing in the new executive members of The Reliance Chapel, the Edo State NUJ Secretary, Comrade Andy Egbon, assisted by financial secretary, urged the new executive members to uphold the basics of the NUJ constitution always.

Comrade Egbon who was accompanied by Comrades Solomon Obozunya the Treasurer of the Edo NUJ and Lucky Ighomuaye the Financial Secretary of the Edo NUJ, swore in Famous Iguisi as the Chairman of the Chapel.

Other members sworn in by Comrade Egbon are Comrades Blessing Ebifagha as Vice Chairman, Saviour Jimoh-Alabi as Secretary, Happiness Imamuhi Ilusota as Treasurer while other three remaining members will be sworn in in due course.

Speaking at the ceremony, the pioneer Chairman of The Reliance Chapel, Comrade Kadiri Christopher and an elder in the Chapel, Comrade Joe Apili advised the newly sworn members to operate an all inclusive programme in order to make a difference.

They advised the new executive members to focus on developmental issues, strive for leading ideas, embrace criticism with courage, shun external influence when issues arise and should be transparent in all their dealings.

In his acceptance speech, the new chairman of the chapel, Comrade Famous Iguisi, expressed appreciation to the founder of The RELIANCE Newspaper, as well as members of the the chapel for the confidence reposed on him and his team to lead the chapel, and promised to be loyal and to carry everyone along in the scheme of things.

Earlier before the swearing in, the Chapel was presented a copy of invite for the burial ceremony of a departed member, Late Comrade Felix Azamoza who once served as the Vice Chairman of the Chapel.

The executive tenure of the NUJ is to constitutionally run for a period of three years.
