A chieftain of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Sunny Aguebor, has disclosed that several millions of Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora are very much in high spirit to support and elect the presidential candidate of the NDC, Mr. Peter Obi as the president of the country in 2027.
Mr. Aguebor who is the Edo South Senatorial District candidate of the NDC, noted “if the presidential election is held today, Obi will get more than 70 per cent of the total votes.
“The opposition leaders know this fact and that is the reason they are always trying in vain to vilify and demonize Peter Obi. They have seen the handwriting on the wall and unfortunately for them, Mr. Peter Obi is unstoppable.”
On while he choosed the NDC against other political parties such as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), amongst others, Mr. Sunny Aguebor said, “it is because Peter Obi is a man of integrity who is well loved and favoured by several millions of Nigerians. He is a trail blazer and a man who have the interest of the people at heart.
“Peter Obi, no doubt is a very popular Nigerian, Nigerians love him, I love him too, and that is one of the reasons why I’m contesting because I want to help him.
“And after winning the senatorial election by the grace of God, I won’t behave like all those who rode on the back of Obi to elective positions only to abandon him and decamped majorly to the APC.
“I wish I was part of them, I would have remained with and defended him to the end, because Obi has his own ideas, concepts, and beliefs, so one would have expected that Nigeria would have had a very strong opposition base especially at the national assembly.
“The opposition would have consistently worked against this illegality and everything that has gone wrong in the National Assembly. Imagine what they are doing there, they collect loans indiscriminately, they don’t make proper arrangements, everything is wrong.
“The last time I heard that Oshiomhole (I’m not his supporter) spoke very well by saying that all the insecurity we are budgeting money for year-in and year-out for the military, let them come and account because the results are not being seen or felt by Nigerians. If I was present there, I would have supported such a stance, although he is not my friend, but that motion is in the best interest of Nigerians, and that is what is good for Nigeria.
“Obi is a good man who means well for Nigeria and I am happy that Nigerians have come to appreciate this fact. I support him and if I go to the National Assembly, I will keep supporting his policies and programmes for the good and success of our country, Nigeria.”
Speaking about the expected outcome of the 2027 presidential election, Mr. Aguebor remarked that “the incumbent president (Tinubu) cannot win any election in Nigeria because Nigerians are so disenchanted and unhappy, everything has gone so bad that even according to Galadima; he said that even a dead body inside a coffin, if it can just raise up its head, it will defeat Tinubu in the next election.
“The APC government has spoiled everything, this is our country, we know how the country was before this APC came over and before the present administration. We all complained about Buhari, but we didn’t know we were going to have a worse government.
“So, today, the government is so bad that nobody is interested in voting for them again. Even rigging would not be possible, if they want to change or falsify results, I wonder how possible it will be because Nigerians are very determined to make sure that this government is kicked out next year.
“So, Obi has already won this election, Nigerians are so determined to vote him across the six geopolitical zones; from the North to the East and the West, to the South South. There is a common interest that Obi should be given a chance to change the way things are being done in the country. The only alternative that these people in government are having is that they say they want to falsify results. They did it the last election and got away with it, but this time, I don’t think they can do it because Nigerians now know that that is the only thing they are relying on to win the election. So, it will not happen, take this to the bank.”
Mr. Aguebor however called on the people of Edo South Senatorial District to “come out en masse on election day and vote for me (Aguebor), because I am coming with a new message. I am a liberator, I’m coming to save Edo South from this present ugly situation they have found themselves in.
“What is happening to Edo South under this present government, the instructions are being taken from outside Edo South, we are even hearing that most of their candidates are being imposed from the outside. I am the only man that is being put here by our people, so I will work for only Edo South and not for anyone else outside the district.
“Everything they want, we will sit down and discuss to make sure that everybody is happy because at the end of the day, we are all from this place and will remain here.”
