The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, on Friday paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Comrade Felix Azamosa to commiserate with them over his passing.
Comrade Felix Azamosa died on Thursday night in Benin City at the age of 72, after a brief illness. He was a member of The RELIANCE chapel of the NUJ.
Speaking during the condolence visit, Sir Ralph Okhiria, a former chairman of Edo NUJ and publisher of The RELIANCE Newspaper, described the late Azamosa as a man of good character, amiable, hardworking kind-hearted, and full of integrity.
“I have known him for nearly 20 years as a man of his word and of good reputation. He is peace loving, he was dedicated to God and committed to his job. I heard about his brief illness, but sadly, we received the news of his demise just a few days after.
‘We are here today to show the family that the entire NUJ, particularly members of The RELIANCE chapel where he had served as a vice chairman, feel the void left by his departure,” Okhiria said.

He urged members of the Azamosa’s family to remain strong, adding, “the NUJ stands with you in this moment of grief. We pray to God to grant you the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss and believe that we shall meet again on the resurrection morning.”
In his remarks, the NUJ Edo State Chairman, Comrade (Dr.) Festus Alenkhe, also paid tribute, describing the late Azamosa as a mentor and father figure to many members of the union.
He noted that Azamosa had recently been appointed into an important committee of the union and prayed for God’s comfort for the bereaved family.

Speaking on the circumstances surrounding her father’s death, Ruth Ehis Azamosa, the eldest daughter of the late journalist, recounted that she was called last week to meet him in a critical condition.
“I rushed him to the General Hospital, but there were no available bed. I then took him to a private hospital where he received treatment, showed signs of recovery, and was discharged home on Saturday,” she said.
She explained that after returning home, her father struggled to eat and frequently vomited. He was readmitted to the hospital for medical tests on Tuesday to determine the cause of his illness.

“On Thursday, 14th May 2026, his condition worsened. Despite the efforts of the doctors and nurses, he passed away. His death is still difficult for us to believe,” she said.
May his gentle soul rest in peace. Adieu Comrade Felix Azamosa.
