Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal constituency witnessed an overwhelming and electrifying display of unity and support as political leaders, party faithful, and stakeholders gathered at the residence of the Local Government Party Chairman, Hon. Osawe Osayemwere, to formally receive the declaration of intent by Prof. (Dr.) David Osarumwense Osifo to contest for the House of Representatives seat in 2027.

The historic gathering, attended by prominent figures and grassroots mobilizers across the constituency, marked a significant turning point in the political landscape of Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode, as Prof. Osifo officially flagged off his aspiration with a message anchored on unity, purposeful leadership, and development.

Speaking during the event, Prof. Osifo delivered a thought-provoking and emotionally resonant address titled: “I Stand in the Hedge to Bridge the Gap: Come and Let Us Build Together.” Drawing inspiration from William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, he called on the people to awaken to their collective responsibility of salvaging the constituency from years of underdevelopment and neglect.

He lamented the socio-economic and political challenges confronting the constituency, describing them as a “gap” that must be urgently bridged through visionary leadership, sincerity of purpose, and collective action. According to him, the time has come for a new era defined not by empty promises, but by integrity, competence, and genuine commitment to the welfare of the people.

Prof. Osifo emphasized that his decision to join the race was borne out of a deep sense of duty and maturity, noting that leadership must be driven by compassion, accountability, and the courage to challenge the status quo.

“There comes a time in a man’s life when he must leave his comfort zone to redress the challenges confronting his people. That time is now,” he stated.

Highlighting the abundant human and material resources within the constituency, he expressed concern over its persistent ranking among the least developed, despite its immense potential. He, however, assured constituents that with the right leadership, the narrative can and will change.

Prof. Osifo presented himself as a tested, credible, and accessible candidate whose life journey, professional accomplishments, and personal integrity are verifiable.

He stressed the need to move away from politics driven by questionable wealth and instead embrace leadership rooted in honesty, transparency, and service.
In a passionate call for inclusiveness, he urged all constituents, regardless of religion, political affiliation, or social status, to unite in building a prosperous federal constituency.

He reaffirmed his commitment to people-oriented representation, promising not to be distracted by unrealistic political rhetoric but to focus on actionable policies and measurable development.

“We are not short of ideas. What has been missing is the willpower and sincerity to translate those ideas into reality. That is the gap I seek to bridge,” he affirmed.

Prof. Osifo concluded by appealing to eligible voters to support his aspiration, assuring them of responsive, accountable, and impactful representation at the Green Chamber of the National Assembly.

The event ended on a high note, with resounding endorsements, cultural displays, and chants of solidarity, reflecting the growing momentum behind his candidacy.
