For several years running, a national leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), High Chief (Dr.) Dan Osi Orbih, during the yuletide celebration has been putting smiles on the faces of the people of Ogbona community in Etsako Central Local Government area of Edo State.

At this time of the season, the Ogbona people look forward in high spirits to the benevolence of their son and leader, High Chief (Dr.) Dan Osi Orbih, and he never disappointed them.

The Reliance reports that Orbih who is also the Chairman, Governing Council of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State, sees himself as an agent of love who happily shares with his people the blessing of God upon his life.

The Ogbona community men, women, and youths always bank on the philanthropy of their benefactor and their expectations are never cut short. High Chief Orbih, always shows up and never goes late in delivering Christmas largesse, especially hundreds of bags of rice and physical cash.

At the appointed time, the Ogbona residence of the PDP heavyweight, High Chief (Dr.) Dan Osi Orbih automatically becomes a Mecca or Jerusalem of some sort as the community people, irrespective of age, gender, political or religion, troop in with large numbers to be part of the free food distribution.

Interestingly, during this year’s edition of the philanthropic activities of the Ogbona community’s respected son, the state Commissioner for Business, Trade, and Investment, Hon. Omo Anabo, was a participant, not as one of the beneficiaries, but to join Chief (Dr.) Dan Osi Orbih in the distribution of the Christmas largesse to the numerous people.

Excitedly, the beneficiaries sang and chanted songs of gratitude, praising their benefactor with the popular slogan, Kulu Kulu 1 of Africa, in appreciation of his consistent gesture of giving back to the people every festive season.

A major highlight of the event was the symbolic handing over of bags of rice to some of the beneficiaries by High Chief (Dr.) Dan Osi-Orbih, an exercise he carried out in company of Hon. Omo Anabo.

A touching moment during the distribution exercise was when as a sign of their appreciation, the women in the community gathered to pray for their precious son in unison, asking God to grant him long life, good health, and greater achievements.

Some of the elated beneficiaries, described High Chief (Dr.) Dan Osi Orbih as a true man of the people, saying that he has never failed the communities over the years, even as they expressed gratitude and prayed for God’s continued blessings and upliftment upon him.

Speaking about the philanthropic gesture of High Chief (Dr.) Dan Osi Orbih, the Commissioner for Business, Trade and Investment, Hon. Omo Anabo, commended his consistency in giving back to Ogbona and other communities in Etsako Central local government area. He prayed for God’s continued strength and grace, for him to do more for the people.

He said, “I want to thank God first of all, and also to thank our leader, who made it possible for everybody in Ogbona community to enjoy Christmas. His benevolence and his kindheartedness in ensuring that he gives everybody food and also gives them a token is commendable.

“Our Chief Dan Osi Orbih is always doing things for the entire Ogbona community, and they are happy with him. I would pray for God to strengthen him, give him wisdom, longevity and protect him wherever he goes”, he added.

In an interview, High Chief (Dr.) Dan Osi Orbih, said the rice distribution has been a yearly tradition, noting that it was not based on religion or politics, saying that everyone in the communities is a beneficiary.

According to him, the initiative is a way of sharing love and ensuring the people enjoy the festive season.

“Well, you can see for yourself; at this time of the year, we normally come together to share the gift of the season. You can see the women, children, and everybody that has taken out time to be a part of this ceremony. They are coming from different quarters to come and share whatever we are able to give out at this time to celebrate the birth of Christ.

“It gives me joy to come and share the very little I can give to our people because it is a season for sharing”, he added with an air of great satisfaction.

Indeed, a giver never lacks. That is the promise of God and it will never fail.
